I can empathize with the food intolerance issue. I have been dairy free due to milk allergy since 2001. Recently, I was diagnosed as gluten intolerant. Both were serious adjustments to my lifestyle and also learning to watch out for myself. My advice would be to find other people who have the same problem and network about how you handle it. I belong to the yahoo group gfcf recipes (gluten free casein free). We talk about a lot more than recipes and it has helped me out a lot in figuring things out and not feeling so alone. I hope you feel better soon.

For pizza: try using a pesto base sauce instead. Smile (works nicely with roast pumpkin, feta, pinenuts, onion etc).

Glad his car cost nothing to fix.
You could try having a garlic base on your pizza too.

crazyliblady - Thanks! :-) I'm learning it's quite tough to not be able to eat what everyone else around you is eating. I have to make my own mini-dinners a lot lately because my family's favorite recipes are mostly all tomato-based. Although, my mom's been trying to find more meals without tomatoes in them and is experimenting with tomato-free sauces. I can't imagine not being able to have milk or gluten. My diet would basically disappear!

whitestripe - That sounds delicious! I'll have to try it one of these days. Although, I don't think I've ever had roast pumpkin before... that will be interesting and will take some research.

scottish girl - Garlic based pizzas are one of my favorite! Too bad it's not a "real pizza" to my husband. To him, pizza needs a crust, tomato sauce, cheese, and meat, maybe mushrooms. Pizza is his favorite food, one that he could eat three meals a day, seven days a week, and so I'm kind of left out a lot now. It's a hard adjustment.
